                                                            Just a short distance from Malinska, you’ll find Porat – a quiet and picturesque village on the island of Krk. Once home to fishermen and a life shaped by the sea, it is today a peaceful tourist haven. The village takes its name from the Italian word “porto,” meaning harbour, a fitting description of its charming coastal centre.

                                                            Porat is best known for its Franciscan Third Order monastery, one of the island’s most significant cultural and historical sites. Within the monastery complex, a museum preserves a valuable collection of sacred art and exhibits that showcase the traditional life and heritage of the region. Adjacent to the monastery stands the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, adding to the village’s serene and authentic charm.
